Berni*e Poikāne
b. in 1998 in Rīga, Latvia
Berni*e Poikāne is a queer video artist working between cinema and contemporary art. They lives and works between France and the Baltic region.Their filmic experiments unfold in a hybrid, immersive practice that blends the documentary and the fictional, and stages representations of the gentle, the melancholy and the monstrous. Liminality is a recurrent theme of their artistic and theoretical work.
In collaboration with Murphy Yum (Stand Alone Complex duo), they co-presented the exhibition Nostalgie Artificielle at La Graineterie Art Center in 2025. Their recent work includes Liminal Tales, a film and sculptural project weaving Baltic fables with ecofeminist, queer, and diasporic fabulation.
